A day at the Beach

As you can tell from this weeks Wordless Wednesday post, we went to the beach.  My neighbor Kelley and I decided to load up our dogs, an ice chest and some chairs before heading out to Surfside Beach.

Zoe and Sunny ran straight for the water as soon as we let them out of the car.

Sunny prefers to lay in the water rather than swim.  She's just a laid back Golden Retriever and the complete opposite of my Zoe.

Zoe prefers to spend  her time chasing waves and seagulls.  I always have to call her back, otherwise she'd swim way out into the sea from chasing wave after wave.

At one point there were about five dolphins that came really close to shore.  Yet, every time I would get my camera out for a photo they were no where in sight.  I've always heard of people claiming that there are always dolphins at this beach but this was my first time seeing it for myself.  Zoe saw one and came running out of the water towards me.  I guess she's not a fan.  :\

Yep, all clear.  Time to chase some waves.

Easter Sunday at Surfside Beach

We spent the better half of our day yesterday at Surfside Beach.  The weather was perfect!  The only downfall was all the seaweed, but that's expected this time of year.

We were accompanied by our good friend Margot and her dog, Isabella, who isn't quite ready to be an off leash dog.  Though she still had a blast.  Zoe swam more than ever.  She kept wanting to follow Daniel out, not wanting to let him out of her sight.

She's such a good swimmer these days, and it was pretty impressive watching her hop over each wave on her way out to greet Daniel.  The last time we were here was in October and Daniel wasn't able to join us then due to work.  So this is his first time at the beach with Zoe, but definitely not the last.

I really enjoyed seeing the two of them together.  At times I'd have to put my camera away and head out to join them.  After a while the waves started to get pretty big, so we'd lure Zoe back to the shore.  I thought about getting a boogie board or a small float we can place Zoe on.  Maybe next time.  And let's face it, would that not be hilarious to see a dog on a boogie board?

We plan on checking out a few more secluded beaches next time.  I hear Matagorda is quite beautiful this time of year.  I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend as much as we did.  :)

Surfside Beach

Surfside Beach, the air is crisp and the water is clear.  Does it get more beautiful than this?  What a great day!

Zoe had a blast with Cassie, my parent's dog.  I was sad that Daniel couldn't be there with us.

Happy dogs running free.

Training has definitely been paying off because Zoe had no trouble being off leash and coming when called.  I can't wait to go back again.  We were all sad to leave.
