Morning walk to the lake

We got quite a bit of rain yesterday so Zoe was stuck inside for most of the day.  So of course first thing this morning I took her out for one of our long walks to the lake.

Any place with an open field and water to swim in makes her quite pleased.  Can you blame her?

Now, why I couldn't get her to sit still like this is the Bluebonnets a week ago is beyond me.

Happy Tuesday friends!  Are you counting down to the weekend like we are?

Is it the weekend yet?

Live like animals

It doesn't take much to please my dog.  Just a little outdoor playtime and she's the happiest dog in the world.  Now that her recall is near perfect I don't mind taking her in wide open fields, because there are plenty of them out here.  And if there is anything that my dog has taught me, it's that the world is our playground.

Have some fun this weekend!

A walk around the bayou

Sometimes a nice 5 minute walk to the bayou with friends and neighbors is all you need.

Hendrix was in full excitement that his buddy Zoe finally came out to play.

These two sure know how to ware each other out and I for one am all for it.

All 3 dogs had a blast and went home happy and tired.  Zoe crashed in the living room soon after we got home.

Early Christmas present

We opened presents and had Christmas dinner with Daniel's family today and they even got Zoe a box full of toys.

I think it more than made up for us not bringing her along.  She was full of excitement to see the new toys.  Full body wags and butt tucks for about 10 minutes or so.

Tomorrow we will be spending Zoe's first official Christmas with my parents and she will join in on the excitement.

Long walks and natures beaty

Yesterday evening Zoe and I went on one of our usual walks and stopped at the rentention pond for some off leash time and a swim.

I love love love coming out here when the sun is setting.  Even before we got Zoe I would come out here and just walk with my head phones on and enjoy a bit of nature's beauty.

There is a small bayou as well but Zoe is terrified to walk around it.  Silly dog she is.

I have to say it is really nice having a dog that loves to swim, they tire out so much easier.  All I have to do is throw a stick or a toy a few times in the water and she's fully excercised.

Though sometimes she needs a good run afterwards.

It's Fall Y'all!

While Zoe is still recovering from getting spayed she longs for some much needed playtime in the courtyard.  In the meantime she is enjoying this lovely fall weather from our patio.  Poor girl. :\

Skyler joins in on the fun as well.  He follows Zoe everywhere and never was much of an outside cat.  I guess he feels that if Zoe is allowed patio access then he is too.

Luckily they are both behaving themselves around my carved pumpkins.  I thought for sure she would chew them to pieces.  Perhaps there's hope for me having a Christmas tree this year after all?  *crosses fingers*

Dazed and Confused

Someone got spayed today and is not happy about it.  We took her into our vet this morning at 7:30am and picked her up at 1:30pm.  She was very delirious but obviously happy to see us.  Once we got home she stopped at the door and waited for us to unleash her and went straight for the bedroom, stood in front of the bed and Daniel carefully lifted her up.  This dog isn't spoiled at all!!  I'm just happy she is doing well and resting.  The next 7 to 10 days should be interesting.

Ice Ice Baby

Zoe has a bit of an obsession with ice cubes.  We started giving ice to her when she was a teething pup and just never stopped.  If she hears me open the freezer door she ninjas her way over to me and sits down behind me like a well trained dog.  Though she's far from it haha.

When there's rain there's mud

Zoe was a ball of energy this morning when we met our neighbors out in the courtyard.  I guess she was upset about being stuck inside all day yesterday due to the rain.

Fun times in the Courtyard

Such a happy Lab!  The weather has been so great lately and it's giving Zoe twice as much energy.  While there was a cloud of smoke in the air this morning due to all the wild fires, it cleared up nicely by this afternoon.

We obviously don't live in a house, so we don't have the luxury of a private backyard but luckily we do have this beautiful Courtyard that our apartment faces.  In the evenings we come out with a few other neighbors and their dogs and let them run around and play.  If only we had our own dog park in the complex.

Try to keep a water dog away from water!  I did have to make her get out of the fountain before anyone saw us.  A house with a pool is definitely in our future.

We hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend

Zoe and Sunny sure are.  My neighbor Kelley and I took them out to Pawm Springs Dog Park in Sugar Land yesterday, but I forgot my camera so I don't have pictures.  Fail on my part I know.

So Instead you can just enjoy these lovely photos of the two of them playing in the Courtyard at our Apartment complex.

Welcome

Hi, I'm Alison and I have an 1 year old black lab mix named Zoe. She was found wandering around by herself near a highway at just 5 weeks old. While her story begins sad, she has had nothing short of a spoiled, happy and healthy life since coming home with me and my boyfriend.
