RIP Mr. Caterpillar

It wasn't me mom!

It lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.  But it was no match for Zoe and Daisy's rough play.

Off with his head!!!

Dog sitting round 2

My neighbor had to go out of town for a few days for work, so of course I offered to watch Sunny and Daisy for a few days again.  They seem pretty content this time around.  Although I can tell that Sunny misses her human very much.  Luckily she will be back tomorrow morning.

We hope your week is going by smoothly!

Let's go for a walk!

It's starting to feel a bit more like fall here lately, with lower temps and some much needed rain.  Yesterday, I decided Zoe and I would enjoy the beautiful day by taking a long walk.

We stopped at the bayou for a minute to enjoy the cool breeze and the sun on our faces.

Once we were deep into the neighborhood we saw lots of brown, yellow and red leaves.  When Zoe was a puppy she used to chase after all the falling leaves in our courtyard.

Now she just prefers to roll in them.  Either way, she looks happy doing what she loves to do.

It's supposed to stay like this all week and believe me, this is the kind of weather we welcome in Southeast Texas.  I only wish we had a nice fireplace for these cold nights.

I hope y'all are having a wonderful week.  :)

Have a tail wagging weekend!

I was moving over a bunch of old videos and photos from one computer to another and I came across a video of Zoe that is maybe almost a year old.  This video puts a big smile on my face because this is a typical welcome home greeting from Zoe.  I know this is a common trait for most retriever breeds, but it just never gets old when we come home to a full body wagging pup who also insists on baring gifts in her mouth.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's officially Summer

..And boy, oh boy is it getting hot out here in Southeast Texas.  On Saturday morning we headed out to Millie Bush Bark Park shortly after sunrise.

It started to get pretty busy shortly after we got there, so we headed over to the less crowded lake on the far right.  There, Zoe met a 4 month old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and I immediately thought of Hawk from browndogcbr.  This pup's name was Chase and he instantly took a liking to Zoe as most puppies seem to do.

Every time she would dive in after her ball, Chase would soon follow after her as long as she wasn't swimming out too far.  His owners were so proud of their newly swimming pup.

Zoe was being incredibly patient with him too.  She didn't even get mad when he would sneakily steal her ball.

Zoe spent most of her time in the water, which was probably a good idea since it was starting to get really hot.  By 8:00am I was starting to sweat and imagined diving in that water myself.

Just as we were heading out Zoe decided to cool off a bit more in a disgusting mud hole.  Luckily I got her out before she decided to roll her whole body in it.  A few people caught the show and got a good laugh out of it and I just smiled at them and said "Yep, that's MY dog."

Welcome

Hi, I'm Alison and I have an 1 year old black lab mix named Zoe. She was found wandering around by herself near a highway at just 5 weeks old. While her story begins sad, she has had nothing short of a spoiled, happy and healthy life since coming home with me and my boyfriend.
